Are You Looking For Cheap Drain Unblockers & Drain Cleaners?

drain-unblockersOnce in a while, you’ll discover that a drain or two in your home is clogged. Such a plumbing problem is inevitable. Since your drains are exposed to all sorts of waste substances, they will always be vulnerable to blockages especially when they are not regularly cleaned. However, you should call a licensed plumber immediately if the clog is recurring as it may indicate an issue that’s more complicated or more severe. Anyway, here’s a list of cheap yet effective drain cleaners!

1. Hot Water

When you discover slow-draining pipes at home, act on them immediately. Boil a pot of water and add  your favorite grease-fighting liquid detergent to it. Pour the solution into the drain and let it soften up the grease trapped inside the pipe. Run the faucet and test if the blockage has been removed. If you’re unsuccessful, the problem may be more serious.

2. Baking Soda and Vinegar

For regular cleaning of your drains, use the amazing combination of baking soda and vinegar. When combined, they create a chemical reaction that fizzes out the waste substances inside the pipe. Just pour a cup of baking soda into the drain hole. Afterward, pour white vinegar inside the drain, too. Make sure it’s the same amount. Plug the drain hole with a towel or an old rag and let the two ingredients work their magic. Leave the drain alone for about 30 minutes or overnight if the clog is too stubborn. Afterward, flush the ingredients with hot water.

3. Baking Soda & Lemon Juice

You know how drains smell, right? Sometimes, the scent coming from the pipe becomes even more terrible. If you are looking for a natural freshener, use baking soda with lemon juice. There’s no need to squeeze fresh lemons for this job. A carton of lemon juice from the grocery should be fine. Once again, pour the baking soda into the drain. Pour the lemon juice afterward. Plug the drain once again and then after 30 minutes, flush with hot water. Your drain will smell free with this natural remedy!

4. Salt, Borax & Vinegar

Another great solution that will keep your drains clear of debris, sediments and waste materials involves the combination of borax, salt and vinegar. Combine half a cup of borax with half a cup of salt. Add a cup of white vinegar into this mixture and pour the solution into the drain pipe. Finish up with a kettle of hot water.

5. Alka Seltzer & Vinegar

Did you know that you can also use Alka Seltzer in your drains? It’s not only great for heartburn, hyperacidity and indigestion. Apparently, it’s also great for drain cleaning. Simply drop three to four tablets into the drain pipe and then follow up with a cup of white vinegar.

6. Enzymatic Drain Cleaners

Enzymatic drain cleaners are also a great substitute for chemical drain cleaners. These things were previously used in cleaning septic tanks and because they do not contain toxic ingredients or harsh chemicals, they are great for the environment. They work by eating away on organic materials or particles such as food wastes, molds, algae and hair strands among many others.
